Havant AC's Kathy Bailey limbered up for this Sunday's Great South Run by finishing second in the National 10K & Inter-Counties Championships at Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire.
The New Forest athlete came home in 34 minutes and 44 seconds to help Hampshire's women to the silver team medal.
Southampton Running Club's Kay Harwood also contributed with a personal best of 36.46 and clubmate Stephanie Robson finished in 37.43.
Hampshire also scooped team silver in the men's event, led by Lee Rodriguez of New Forest Runners in 30.03. Andy Morgan-Lee was the next local man home in 30.37 while his Southampton RC colleague Ian Crawford, a vet-40 runner, clocked 35.09.
Pete Davis led the Southampton Running Club charge in the Milford 5 Road Race, finishing fourth in 27 minutes and 50 seconds.
Behind him came a pack of SRC runners - Matt West 5th (28.17), Mike Twomey 6th (28.20), Steve Heggarty 7th (28.45), Alan Doney 8th (28.52), Graham Bungay 11th (29.06), Rob Thompson, vet-40, 12th (29.18), Scott Augur 14th (29.30), Martyn West, vet-50, 21st (30.17), Ian Richardson, vet-50, 22nd (30.22), Neil Hotson, vet-45, 28th (31.21), John Keenan, vet-45, 36th (32.26), Derek Warn 53rd (36.01).
The wheels are in motion for another Lordshill Road Runners 10-Mile Race on Sunday, November 2.
This popular event, which starts at 10am from the Redbridge Lane Outdoor Sports Centre, doubles up as one of the 2003/4 Hampshire Road Race League fixtures and is guaranteed to attract many of the area's top runners.
