DOES anyone have any information on the three Toomer sisters who donated the land known today as Rockstone Place Park on the Avenue?
The City of Southampton Society is hoping to donate a sculpture to the Park to commemorate the gift from Jane Wills (Toomer) and Margaret and Rebecca Toomer in 1879.
The sculptor is seeking any information or detail from descendants of the Toomers or anyone who knew the Toomer family to help with her artistic portrayal of the sisters.
Jane, Margaret and Rebecca were the daughters of Southampton businessman Edward Toomer (1764 - 1852) and sisters to Southampton architect Samuel Edward Toomer who helped to create the listed buildings of today's Carlton Crescent and Rockstone Place.
