FANS of Kinesis may be hoping for another white T-shirt freebie when they catch the group on their UK tour this week.

At a recent hometown show, the Bolton-bred rockers offered free entry to anyone wearing the rock fashion staple. Unfortunately for cash-strapped fans hoping to catch them in action next week, it was simply a one-off thank you gesture.

Their hometown has also been a source of inspiration for angry lyrics following recent race riots. Their debut LP Handshakes for Bullets features politically loaded songs like Conveyor Belt Destruction and Generation Devoid of Inspiration.

Michael, Conor, Tom and Neil say they are writing to "change opinion and motivate dissent". Other songs on the new LP include former singles and live favourites And They Obey and Forever Reeling.

With a reputation for passionate performances and fearsome live sets the four young guys are fast becoming a big thing in British rock.

They have a growing army of dedicated fans despite only getting together three years ago and can probably expect sell out gigs with this tour.

They've previously played with the Manic Street Preachers, Hundred Reasons and Hell is for Heroes. Support on the current tour will come from Oceansize and Fi Lo Radio.

7 October, Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth. Performance: 8pm. Tickets: £7. Box office: 023 9286 3911
