GYPSY brass band Fanfare Ciocarlia regularly give 30-hour performances at wedding celebrations in remote villages in their native Romania - so a couple of hours in Hampshire shouldn't give them too much trouble.

The energetic band bring their unique sound to The Anvil in Basingstoke on Wednesday, October 8, promising audiences an evening of expert musicianship and infectious enthusiasm.

Whirling trumpet and clarinet lines, irresistible dance rhythms and astonishingly agile brass bass lines are all part of the Ciocarlia magic.

Steeped in Romanian tradition, both music and instruments have been handed down through the generations.

The band play without referring to sheet music and use ancient instruments that have lost nothing but their shine.

Spanning three generations, the band now perform all over Europe.

The show starts at 7.45pm. Tickets cost £14.50. Box office: 01256 844244.
