TRAILBLAZER Fraser Dexter-Smith set the fastest time of the day in leading his team to success in the inaugural New Forest Primary Schools' Cross-Country Relays.
The event, which took place at Brockenhurst College, saw ten schools battle it out for team and individual honours. The boys' section was won by Durlston Court in 9 minutes 35 seconds (Fraser Dexter-Smith 3.10, Matt Wood 3.11, Oliver Bell 3.14). Second place went to Orchard in 9.41 (James King 3.15, Jo Jordan 3.12, Ryan Taylor 3.14).
Durlston Court also took third place with their B team in 10.03 (Sam Wiggins 3.30, Greg Hope 3.21, Will Thompson 3.12). Fourth position went to Blackfield (10.11).
Calmore dominated the girls' event, winning in 10.47 (Jade Bristow 3.27, Stephanie York 3.51, Gemma Knell 3.29). Orchard claimed second place in 11.09 (Regan Mathurine 3.47, Francesca Hooper 3.37, Hayley Platt 3.45). Third place went to Hale in 11.14 (Lucy Butt 3.40, Francesca Gapp 3.49, Charlotte Williamson 3.45). Durlston Court A team just pipped Durlston B team for fourth place in 11.17.
Individual honours went to Dexter-Smith, who claimed a second gold medal, beating teammate Matt Wood into second place. Jo Jordan took bronze.
In the girls' event Jade Bristow also won a second gold, with Gemma Knell taking silver and Francesca Hooper the bronze.
