STARS of The Ukrainian National Opera of Odessa come from Russia next month - with love and tragedy.
The acclaimed company, based near the Black Sea, perform two operas in the south as part of the latest presentation by Ellen Kent and Opera International.
Madama Butterfly and Rigoletto are performed at the Pavilion Theatre, Bourne-mouth, on October 14 and 15 respectively, with Madama Butterfly performed again at The Anvil, Basingstoke, on October 18 and 19.
Puccini's Madama Butterfly tells the story of an innocent geisha girl who falls for an American sailor, with tragic consequences.
Highlights include the melodious Humming Chorus, the poignant aria One Fine Day and the Love Duet.
The set features traditional Japanese trees, kimonos, fans, waterfalls and a tank of golden fish.
Rigoletto, based on a play by Victor Hugo, is about a dissolute prince and a jester whose overwhelming love for his daughter leads to tragedy.
The sumptuous production includes live animals and features two of the best known tenor arias in the opera canon, La Donna e Mobile and Questa o Quella.
