A serious head injury to Cirencester's Gary Wotton overshadowed the FA Cup game with Andover at the Corinium on Saturday.
The Cirencester captain was rushed to hospital by air ambulance after lying in the penalty area for half an hour with a head injury, lapsing in and out of consciousness. He was not moved as a precaution against a neck or spinal injury, and was made comfortable by medics and physios from both sides.
The game had been stopped with the score at 1-1, but when it was restarted Cirencester went on to take the honours with a 3-2 victory.
There was controversy throughout the game, with disputed decisions for Andover's equaliser, scored while Wotton was out cold in the area, and the sending-off of Lions captain Glen Damen for a second booking.
