SUPPORT for Wessex Heartbeat has netted Hampshire County Cricket Club coach Paul Terry an unexpected bonus, courtesy of Volkswagen dealer Peter Cooper.
The former Hampshire player was the winner of a new Volkswagen Golf Match at the Wessex Heartbeat Golf Classic and Gala Ball, an event which raised more than £100,000 for the Southampton charity.
Darren Cooper, brand manager of Peter Cooper Group, which has Volkswagen dealerships in Hedge End, Portsmouth and Chichester, said the company was delighted to be involved in such a valuable charity and that the car could not have gone to a better home.
"The golf day and gala ball were a huge success for the charity and Paul was delighted to win the Golf Match which is worth around £13,000,'' said Darren.
He presented Paul with his prize at the Rose Bowl, home of Hampshire County Cricket Club.
Paul said he was amazed and delighted when his name was drawn out of the hat. "I couldn't believe I had won the car,'' said Paul who usually drives a Volkswagen Passat.
"I have always liked the VW range and as I already have the Passat, I have given my mum the Golf to drive. She's thrilled with the car.''
