VT pulled off what manager Dave Diaper described as their best result in the Hampshire League when they beat big championship rivals Poole Town 5-0 at Tatnam on Saturday.
"We've had some great results against bigger clubs in the cups, but certainly in my time as Vospers manager, this is as good as we've got in the league," said Diaper.
Everyone expected it to be tight between the two Premier Division big-guns and there was only one goal in it at at half-time.
But Vospers turned up the heat in the second-half and Poole couldn't live with them. The VT strikers Gary Male and Mike Spinney shared the glory with two goals apiece, the other coming from Ben Tyrrell.
Poole have been hit by Graham Kemp's departure for Brockenhurst and their top scoring striker Karim Banssauda is suspended, but Diaper summed up: "It was not so much a bad Poole performance as an excellent one from Vospers.
"We have worked really hard on our fitness since Kev Harnett came to us from Pirelli, and it is really paying off. We got stronger as the game went on at Poole."
The result swept VT back to the top of the table with a 100 per cent record from six games and they leapfrogged Andover New Street who tripped up 2-1 at home to Lymington Town.
"We paid for missing our chances," said New Street co-boss Graham Kent. Danny Adams and Danny Veale scored for Lymington whose fine performance was marred by having two players needlessly sent off in the last minute. Nick Turpin got New Street's consolation.
Colden Common made a strong move up the Division 1 table with a 3-0 win over last season's title challengers Verwood Town. James Atterbury, Richard Lang and Lee Kelly got the Common goals.
Division 2 leaders Netley Central Sports took an early lead through Ben Calder at Yateley Green but the home side battled back to grab a point with a goal in the last ten minutes.
Two other leading sides Ordnance Survey and Ludgershall drew 1-1, Survey's new signing, former Eastleigh and Bournemouth striker Ricky Fernandez, getting their goal.
Hamble Club are looking more threatening by the week. They came back from a one-goal deficit to win 4-2 at Broughton with Ollie Forbes (2), Adie Sheath and Indy Coleman the scorers.
Former Salisbury midfielder Callum Robinson was trying to pull the strings for Broughton but Hamble boss Julian Walters quipped: "There was no one on the end of them."
Romsey Town took a whole season to win one game last season. This time round they have won three after a 3-1 derby victory over M&T Awbridge.
Just one goal, an Andy Norgate penalty, divided the teams at half-time but Ruben Taylor then Jamie Hookway struck to give Romsey a decisive success.
