It was a day of contrasting fortunes for Totton's two SWL clubs.
League leaders AFC Totton were hit by a last-minute sucker punch in their 1-1 draw with Bemerton HH, while BAT moved off the bottom of the pile with a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth Poppies - their first league points of the season.
Ian Shields, who officially hands over the managerial reins to Barry Blankley for tomorrow night's league game at Hamble ASSC, said: "I'm very disappointed. We created a lot of chances in the second half but didn't put them away and were punished late on."
David Egerton had given Totton a 67th minute lead when he scrambled the ball home from a corner but Harlequins grabbed a last-gasp equaliser through substitute Andy Chainey with a thumping 15-yard shot.
Bemerton boss Steve Slade added: "Our centre-forward was flat out on the pitch when they scored their goal and we've shown a lot of character and battled hard for the point.
"In our last ten games, nine of them have been against sides in the top ten and four of them, including Totton, have been top of the table so the fixtures haven't been kind to us."
Next door neighbours BAT had their first points of the season in the bag before half-time as they beat Bournemouth Poppies 3-1 at Southern Gardens.
"I'm very pleased for the boys and the club. We haven't played poorly all season and I suppose the difference today was that we finally took our chances," cooed BAT boss Andy Leader.
Richard Gregory fired the Tobaccomen into a 15th minute lead when he found the net from an Andy Chance cross via the upright and a Poppies defender.
Richard Glenister stabbed home from a corner to level for the visitors but BAT replied with two further goals within a devastating five-minute spell.
First Gregory turned provider with a good delivery from which Dave Roberts smacked the ball home and then Paul West whipped in a left-wing cross for Gregory to finish from six yards.
AFC Newbury were another team in a hurry as Ian McSherry, David Asker, Peter Tisdale and Dean Mildenhall all struck inside the opening 17 minutes of their 4-0 romp against Whitchurch.
"It looks as though we scored the early goals and then sat back," smiled manager Guy Whittingham. "But that's certainly not the case, we kept on creating chances but just couldn't finish them off.
"I'm very pleased with our performance and our new keeper David Hook who I've signed from Harrow Borough has kept a clean sheet on his debut."
The Graham Kemp factor continues to work its magic at Brock-enhurst where the Badgers held title-chasing Gosport to a 1-1 draw.
Player/manager Kemp had a hand in their goal after seven minutes, his free-kick found Tomas Frenneson - a new-signing from Salisbury - crossed for Alan Wright to side-foot them into the lead,
Gosport levelled from the penalty spot through Stuart Hensman on the hour although Brockenhurst had three efforts cleared off the line late on.
"It's an excellent result and I thought that we more than deserved it," said the Brock boss. "I've said to the lads that we've got to make ourselves difficult to beat and the players attitude was spot-on - maybe the luck is starting to turn our way."
While the clubs above them were drawing, Fareham closed the gap courtesy of a 2-0 home success against Thatcham Town.
Top-gun Jamie Musselwhite grabbed both goals but missed out on a hat-trick when he blazed a second spot-kick wide of the target. Musselwhite struck on the hour following a handball in the area before netting with a header from Lloyd Mitchell's cross in the last ten minutes.
"I'm very pleased with the win and we're going OK at the moment," said Fareham manager Jon Gittens. "The players are working hard and winning which in turn is bolstering their confidence but we must not get complacent.
Moneyfields left it late in coming from behind to beat Hamble ASSC 2-1, strikes in the last ten minutes by Sid Sanderson and Matty Rae sealing the Moneymen the points.
Earlier Craig Rickman had rifled the Planemakers into a fifth minute lead with a cracking 25-yard shot, only for Sanderson to level with a near post finish and Rae to bag a winner with a header off the underside of the crossbar.
Moneyfields manager Calvin Hore sighed: "It was a good win but not a good game. It was a bit of a non-event and lacked any real imagination or creativity."
Portland also left it late as they overturned a 1-0 half-time deficit to triumph 3-1 over Christchurch.
James Reeve levelled on 70 minutes with a fierce shot from the edge of the penalty area and, five minutes later, Andy Perkins far post delivery was headed in by Chris Evans.
David Laws added a third on 85 minutes after seeing his shot rebound to him off the upright. "It took us 70 minutes to start converting our chances," complained Portland boss Nick Preston.
A 60th minute header by Richie Woodburn - his third goal in four games - was enough to give Cowes Sports all three points away at Downton.
"We don't normally do very well here at Downton, so I'm really pleased to come away with maximum points," said Cowes manager Derek Ohren.
