YOUNGSTERS from a Southampton school will be putting their creative talents to good use when they take part in a fundraising concert in aid of Leukaemia Busters.
Pupils from The Atherley School, in Upton Lane, Nursling, are staging the event on Saturday from 7pm to collect cash for the cause.
Leukaemia Busters' clinical trials are under threat from the possibility of a new EU ruling being introduced. The legislation would apply the same standards to non-commercial clinical trials as those set up for profit-making pharmaceutical companies mass-testing drugs for the open market. It could see the cost of drug trials soar from less than £50,000 to £1m, meaning critical studies into helping child leukaemia sufferers would cease.Visit the charity's website, at www.leukaemiabusters.org.uk to sign its petition against the introduction of the new rule.
Serena Flavell, the daughter of pioneering scientists Drs David and Bee Flavell, who set up Leukaemia Busters, will be taking part in the concert.
Tickets are £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and £14 for families, and are available from 023 8074 1629 or on the door.
