IT'S the gig everyone's talking about - a free intimate concert by chart sensation Craig David for the people of his home city.

Today the Daily Echo is giving Southampton readers the chance to be one of the 500 lucky fans to see Craig in action in the exclusive one-off concert at the Rose Bowl.

Craig, 22, who was born and raised on the city's Holyrood estate, plays an acoustic gig at the home of Hampshire Cricket on Monday, October 6.

Accompanied only by his long-time friend and guitarist, Fraser T Smith, Craig will perform in the Rose Bowl atrium and pavilion for a strictly limited number of local fans.

"I'm really looking forward to this show. Southampton is where my family and most of my close friends live," says Craig, whose latest single, World Filled With Love, is released on October 13.

"My life has been so busy over the last couple of years that I haven't been able to get back as much as I would have liked to, so for me it's a great opportunity to give a little to the city that gave me so much."

The day of the concert will be a busy one for Craig. In addition to the gig he will taking part in a photocall with Saints legend Matt Le Tissier to help promote the club's Racism Just Ain't Saintly campaign and making a lunchtime appearance at HMV Southampton to meet fans and sign copies of his album Slicker than the Average.

Craig's free gig comes in addition to his current UK tour, which comes to Bournemouth International Centre on Sunday, October 5.
