THE entertainment business has led to the happy marriage of an Andover couple who have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Ken and Gwen Pickernell, of Warner Court, met in 1942 at the cinema, where Gwen worked.
The couple were married on 11 September 1943 at St James Church in Ludgershall, two year's before Ken was posted away by the RAF. When he returned he was reunited with his wife and son Tony.
The lives of the whole family evolved around show business, as Ken was the manager of the Tidworth Garrison Theatre. Gwen, aged 78 said: "We worked together and really had a good time."
The couple have one granddaughter and two great grandchildren. Ken, aged 81 said: " I think it helps a marriage when you have children and family."
Son Tony, who now manages Garrison Theatre, organised a party with family and friends at Tidworth Leisure Centre.
