Newly-installed Brockenhurst boss Graham Kemp weaved his magic to lead the Badgers to a precious 1-0 victory at Christchurch in his first league game in charge.
Brock fielded seven new faces, including former Hampshire wicket-keeper Iain Brunnschweiler in goal and the eventual late match-winner Nick Kemp, snapped up from Winchester City.
Manager/defender Kemp - no relation to the heroic midfielder - laughed: "I could see the report: 'Kemp got the ball out on the right wing, cut inside and rifled home with his left foot.' I wasn't going to let on that it was Nick and not me!"
Priory keeper Max Frampton made a couple of good first half saves from Nick Kemp and Jason Lovell, but Christchurch had the majority of second-half possession, despite being reduced to ten men.
Scott Joyce was sent off for flicking out a leg Beckham-style and tripping his former teammate John Grace, who had just switched camps to Brock.
Boss Kemp said: "We just edged the game, our attitude was spot on. I couldn't fault anyone for effort."
Managerless AFC Totton went top of the table after demolishing Alton Town 4-0 in an early second-half blitz.
The Stags, who lost boss John Robson to Bashley last week, looked out of sorts in the first half but never looked back once skipper Martin Whiddett had struck two minutes after the break.
Twenty minutes later they were four to the good with Whiddett, Dave Egerton and Rob Savage on target. It maintained a 100 per cent record for the caretaker management team of Ian Shields and Gary Birch.
Winchester City are a point behind Totton with a game in hand after a hard-fought 5-2 home win over battling BAT.
The rock-bottom Tobaccomen have yet to bank a point, but they gave the title favourites an early jolt with a 13th-minute Dave Roberts goal.
Andy Forbes levelled two minutes later, sidefooting home Matt Bicknell's free kick, and he struck again from a penalty in the 26th minute after having his shirt tugged by Paul Hodder.
BAT hit back through Richard Gregory to level 2-2 at half-time, but City pulled away after the break through Shaun Dyke and two-goal Lloyd Webber.
Wimborne are up to fourth after inflicting a second defeat in three days on Lymington.
It was two former Linnets who ganged up on their old club for a 3-0 Magpies win - Mark Smith scoring midway through the first half and Gareth Barnes adding a brace in the 50th and 90th minutes.
Blackfield & Langley's Steve Wheatland and Downton's Matt Guy bagged two goals apiece in a 2-2 draw at Gang Warily, while Isle of Wight-based chef Giancarlo Giancovich, an England beach football international, added the garnish to Cowes Sports' 3-2 home win over Bournemouth.
James Bailey-Pearce put the Poppies in front, Richie Woodburn, Darren Powell and Giancovich hit back for the Yachtsmen and Bournemouth's Richard Glenister had the last word.
