Ron Reynolds has just completed a 55-day walk from Land's End to John O'Groats to perpetuate the memory of his road-racing hero Gavin Lee.
The money Reynolds raised has gone towards the Gavin Lee Trophy, to be presented to the North Gloucester Motor Cycle Club champion.
Lee, from Netley Abbey in Southampton, lost his life in a racing accident in the Isle of Man in 1999 to rob the area of one of its greatest motor cycle riders.
Lee rode to many podium finishes in the Isle of Man TT races and was a front runner in British 125 and 250cc Championship events.
Reynolds said: "Gavin was as close to a local hero as it was possible to get. And it is with a great deal of pride that I and all who contributed towards this trophy wil see it has a lasting memorial to him.
As well as raising money for the trophy, Reynolds presented a cheque of £1,219 to the Rose Road Association to go towards the care of children.
Gavin Pyper made a sparkling debut in the Porsche Michelin Carrera Cup - just two days after getting a call up to drive the high-powered Porsche 911 GT3.
The Hampshire-based Scottish driver took fifth place in the opening race and improved a position in Sunday's event - underlining his loss to the Touring Car championship in mid-season.
He was actually leading the Independents Cup for the GA Motorsport Thruxton team when lack of funds forced him to withdraw.
