Ocean Colour Scene played to a sold- out and very warm crowd last night.
Old favourites and tracks from the new album North Atlantic Drift, considered by the band to be right up there with Mosely Shoals, got an outing. Audience participation was at a high, especially with The Day We Caught The Train, and an encore was demanded by the crowd singing When The Saint Go Marching In.
It was rewarded by the duelling guitars of The Riverboat Song.
The audience could have spared a little more enthusiasm for local-band-made-good Delays, who provided the support. With big hair and dubious taste in jumpers - with the exception of Aaron on keyboard who chose to wear a vintage Saints shirt - they proved that they can play and sing.
Leadman Greg's vocal range took him up to the Guildhall's rafters on occasion. They have the on-stage swagger, but perhaps the unassuming frontman could have done more to get the audience on side.
