A CITY neighbourhood was brought to life with colour, music, 20 new flowers - and the odd fight - this weekend, as Thornhill Festival swung into action.
Hundreds of residents flocked to Hinkler Green for an afternoon of skateboarding, football, circus skills and wrestling.
Special guest Wayne Bridges, four-time world heavyweight wrestling champion, grappled with other sport professionals in a special show organised by Thornhill resident and wrestling enthusiast Brett Sumner.
Mr Bridges's wife, Sarah, also strutted her stuff as Miss Great Britain bodybuilding champion and England's strongest woman.
Pupils at Kanes Hill, Hightown and Thornhill primary schools also lent a hand with artwork and music.
The Southampton Scrap Store, which famously "turns waste things into play things," laid the scrap heap challenge before visitors. By the end of the day there were ingenuous sculptures, all made out of rubbish, dotted across the park.
The day also saw Thornhill's Tidy Team unveil a new-look logo - and they immediately set to work planting flowers.
