Havant & Waterlooville co-boss Mick Jenkins believes the club should consider more overnight stays after enduring yet another traffic nightmare en route to Stafford Rangers for their Dr Martens Premier clash on Saturday.

The team coach got caught in congestion on the A34 and M6 and arrived at the ground at 3.10 for a delayed 3.25 kick-off. With no preparation, they fell short of the recent high standards of a six-match unbeaten run and lost out 2-1 to an 82nd-minute Danny Davidson winner.

Davidson had put his side ahead from the penalty spot following a tussle between Hawks' Aaron Skelton and Craig Wilding, but the visitors' hit back four minutes into the second half when James Taylor chested down for David Town to drive home from 18 yards.

Jenkins said: "I've had my fill of travel hold-ups. I know there's expense involved, but on longer trips it would make sense to stay overnight.

Hopefully with the regionalisation due in next season, we won't have to travel so far."
