TWO legends of British folk music are joining forces at The Tower tonight.
Martin Carthy CBE was a major player in the post-war revival of folk music. He is known for his incredible guitar style as well as his passion for the narrative ballad.
Dave Swarb has worked with Martin on and off since the 60s. They became friends when they both appeared on the folk show Hullabaloo
He began playing the fiddle, the instrument he is now most associated with, as a child, encouraged by his parents.
He has also played in numerous bands, including Fairport Convention and Whippersnapper.
But it was as a duo that Carthy and Swarbrick have been most influential, redefining the dynamics for fiddle and guitar partnerships. Their gig tonight is a must for all folk fans.
Tonight. Performance: 8pm. Tickets: £10.50. Box office: 01962 867986.
