The richest ever fishing individual event at Lord Romsey's Longbridge Lake takes place this Sunday with the final of the 2003 Nigel Turner/Thomson's Wealth Management Series.
All summer, anglers have enjoyed some spectacular fishing in the nine heats with the top two from each, plus the top five non-qualifiers, making it to the 23-man final.
Prize money for the winner has been upped from £500 to £1,000 with a total prize money on the day exceeding £2,300.
This year's final sees an absolute top turn-out of local stars and the final won't be for the faint-hearted with a big weight of carp certain to take the top prize.
Last year's winner Richie Yeo has been in steady rather than spectactular form leading up to the final but his knowledge on Longbridge is second to none and, given a reasonable draw, the Cormor-ants Team Sillybait squad man can do the double.
Challengers will come from all sides with the biggest threat posed from the Homestores squad, who field four anglers.
Graham Tappenden has had a fantastic season, winning match after match, and has a great record on Longbridge.
Fish O Mania qualifiers Marc Illingworth and Ray Hayward have already missed a big pay day this year and will be out to make amends and both have a great chance, while Paul Sears has had a good season.
You can never leave out Poingdestres and both Pete Newman and Clive Egerton are past winners of the event and will be stiff opposition, while Carbotech's Lee Woodhouse is undoubtedly the best angler on the bank. But Longbridge has persistently proved frustrating for Woodhouse.
Final line-up: G Tappenden, M Pepperell, P Barnard, S Hunt, D Sharp, S Nadin, G Naylor, C Albiston, R Hayward, P Sear, G Charman, N Tappin, P Stride, P Newman, D Self, Yeo, P Sheperd, C Egerton, R Kajko, G Maton, L Woodhouse, S Hemmings.
NB - Draw is 8.30am fishing 10.00am to 4.00pm and spectators are welcome.
