Title challengers Gosport Borough had their proud 100 per cent record smashed by a ten-man Newbury side at Privett Park on Saturday.
After reeling off five straight wins, Gosport were brought crashing back to earth by the Berkshire side who had James Caswell sent off just before half-time for bringing down Borough's Michael White when he was clean through on goal.
Newbury's Jim Goslin said: "It was a great performance especially when you consider that we played the entire second half with ten men.
"Anthony Alleyne worked very hard up front by himself while the rest of the lads really dug in and that result puts us up into second place now."
The only goal of the game came after 27 minutes, Alleyne crossing the ball for Dean Mildenhall to nod home the winner.
Beleaguered BAT are still pointless after going down at Moneyfields whose 2-1 success was their first three-point haul of the season.
"I've stuck up for my players in previous defeats this season but today's performance was unacceptable and people have got to take responsibility on the pitch - I feel very let down," said BAT boss Andy Leader.
"We were a bit better in the second half but it was too little, too late and the longer this losing run goes on the worse it becomes," he sighed.
First-half strikes from Dean Dalton and Lee Mould put the Moneymen on the road to their first win with BAT replying late on from the penalty spot through Dave Roberts after Andy Chance had been brought down.
Bournemouth Poppies manager Keith Williams was a disappointed man despite a last-minute strike by Richard Glenister earning his side a point in a 2-2 draw with Thatcham.
"We didn't play very well, we've conceded two poor goals from two set pieces and given away too many free-kicks," moaned the Poppies boss.
Ryan Lucas had given them a 25th minute after Glenister's shot had been deflected but Town replied before the break through Danny Oatway.
Sean Cook then put the Berkshire outfit ahead after 65 minutes only for Glenister to net his last-gasp point-saver.
It's five defeats on the bounce for battling Brockenhurst who have now shipped an alarming 28 goals in those games following their 5-2 defeat at Portland.
Goals in the first 25 minutes from David Laws and Dave Whalley put Portland in control and, although Robbie Lynn netted for the Badgers on 44 minutes, the Dorset club went straight up the other end and added a third through Levi Daley.
Former Weymouth striker Laws bagged his eighth goal of the campaign early in the second half, Lynn then grabbed his second of the game before Daley completed the Portland nap hand.
