A REWARD has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the prime suspect in the murder of teenager Hannah Foster.

Hampshire police has put up £7,000, which is being matched by a national newspaper.

The £14,000 reward would be more than a Punjabi policeman could earn in a year.

Maninder Pal Singh Kohli is suspected of abducting, raping and murdering 17-year-old student Hannah on March 14 this year.

Det Supt Alan Betts, who is leading the investigation, flew to India last week in the search for Kohli.

He said: "We hope the offer of this reward will encourage people who have perhaps not come forward to assist in the investigation to date to do so now.

"We have met with the director general of the Punjab police and he is very positive about the investigation which his officers are conducting and is committed to doing everything possible to find Kohli."

Talented student Hannah, who was taking A-levels at Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh, was abducted as she walked home alone after a night out with friends in Southampton.

Her body was found two days later by a roadside in nearby West End. A post-mortem found she had been raped and strangled.

More than 100 detectives have been involved in the hunt for Hannah's killer, making it one of the biggest investigations ever undertaken by Hampshire Constabulary.

Now The Sun has agreed to match Hampshire Constabulary's £7,000 reward leading to the arrest of Kohli, who lived in Broadlands Road, Swaythling.
