SOUTHAMPTON residents flocked to a community event to have their say on how the city should evolve.
Groups, including the city council and health, business and police chiefs, have joined forces to produce a vision for Southampton up to 2020.
Residents were encouraged to give their views at a special event promoting the community strategy at the Sir James Matthews Building in Above Bar Street.
It included workshops and information stands as well as fun activities for
youngsters and live music.
The document has put every area of life in the city under the microscope, from transport, with two park-and-ride schemes mooted, to ensuring the city becomes the cultural capital of the south.
It includes the regeneration of northern Above Bar and the West Quay Three project.
City mayor Councillor Parvin Damani said: "The community strategy sets out the vision for the city up to the year 2020.
"It is important that future plans reflect the needs of our community."
The vision document is in its draft form and project leaders will produce a final version at the end of the year.
Vanessa Shahani, of the council's Community Involvement Service, said: "We had a mixture of people here, including those in community groups as well as people who are not normally engaged in this type of thing."
