Dimitri Mascarenhas has missed out on a place in England's one-day squad despite his prolific season in the ECB National League.
Hampshire all-rounder Mascarenhas's one-day form this summer has been one of the few positives of a miserable season for the county.
The 25-year-old's 31 wickets at just 16.35 runs each make him the leading bowler in one-day county cricket this year.
Against Lancashire Lightning on Sunday, Mascarenhas, pictured below, gave the England selectors a timely reminder of his ability, taking 2-20.
But, despite his success, he has not been rewarded with a place in the 16-man one-day party that is scheduled to play six ODIs before Christmas against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Middlesex skipper Andrew Strauss, who is set to face Hampshire at Lord's on Sunday, is the only surprise inclusion in the one-day squad.
Rikki Clarke and Paul Collingwood are the all-rounders who kept Mascarenhas out of the one-day squad and are also the surprise inclusions in the Test squad for two matches against Bangladesh and three against Sri Lanka.
Hampshire skipper John Crawley, as expected, has been left out of England's Test squad. A year ago Crawley was preparing to take on Australia but he has not scored a first-class century this season.
Ed Smith has also been dropped, along with Martin Bicknell.
Chris Read and Geraint Jones are the wicketkeepers chosen to battle it out for Alec Stewart's old role.
England Test squad: Vaughan, Trescothick, Butcher, Hussain, Thorpe, Flintoff, Collingwood, Clarke, Read (wk), Jones (wk), Giles, Batty, Johnson, Kirtley, Anderson.
One-day squad: Vaughan (capt), Trescothick, Solanki, Strauss, McGrath, Flintoff, Collingwood, Clarke, Read, Blackwell, Giles, Batty, Johnson, Kirtley, Anderson.
The England Academy squad does not include a Hampshire player for the first time since it was launched.
Chris Tremlett, one of the few players to be named in the Academy's first two squads, has decided to spend the winter in Australia and no other Hampshire player is in this year's party of 14.
Former Hampshire player Simon Francis is in the squad, which will be based at Loughborough for the first time, but there is no place for the Somerset man's brother, John, whose future with Hampshire is in doubt.
England's Simon Jones will continue his rehabilitation in the East Midlands a year after his horrific knee injury on the first day of the last Ashes series.
England Academy: Kadeer Ali, S Francis, Gidman, Jones, Khalid, Lumb, Mahmood, Napier, Newman, Pietersen, Prior, Shafayat, Tredwell, Wagg.
