POLICE in Winchester are trying to track down the owner of a car found in a ditch near Kings Worthy.
A dog walker reported the car to officers on Thursday afternoon. However, Hampshire traffic police said they had been aware of it since Monday this week.
The car, which is lying in undergrowth some 10ft from London Road is also missing its registration plates, making contacting the owner even harder.
Police said they were still unsure whether the car had been stolen or not and whether the number plates were removed by the driver to stop the vehicle from being recognised, or whether the plates were removed at a later date by someone else.
All they are sure of is that it had clearly been involved in an accident of some sort, and that investigations were ongoing to ascertain who the owner is.
Anyone with any information, either about the car or the accident that left it there, is asked to contact police on 0845 045 4545.
