Burridge Sports have already won as many games as they did all last season!
It was all down to Graham Cole who scored a hat-trick as Sports beat Senior League new-boys Romsey Town Sports. But it was fortunate that he was even able to play as he was in Tenerife until a few hours before kick off.
Manager Sean Holbrook, sweating on getting a full team together for the match, had to pick him up from the airport so he could join his teammates.
Perhaps it was the suntan oil that made him too slippery for the Romsey defenders.
Sports are hoping for a better season than when they ended up wooden spoonists and had to rely on re-election, which was only granted due to the promotion of Mottisfont and Durley to the Hampshire League.
Sports have also formed a new second team this season as part of their ongoing improvement.
There were some fine individual scoring feats at the weekend and Glen Colmer led the way with four as Academicals made it two wins out of two, with a goal difference of 13 at this early stage. They sure gave M&T Awbridge B a lesson in finishing.
Rich Pavey was a treble-hitter for Capital Reserves, also in Junior 3, while Jeremy Barrett of Norleywood scored four in a 9-0 demolition of AFC Aldermoor.
Nathan Oakley was the only hat-trick hero in the Senior section, his three earning Hythe Aztecs a 5-1 win against Pro Club and getting his team off to a great start to the season with a second straight win.
Stuart Coe of WEBFC scored three in a 5-3 defeat of Bevois Castle. Spartans' Richie Crowe also hit three in his team's 6-3 opener against Lowford - as did former Brockenhurst favourite Justin Beverley in Langley Manor's 7-2 win at Sporting BTC.
Steve Gulliver scored all three Bacardi goals in a 3-0 win at Velmore while that man Ian Bush added another treble to his illustrious career total scoring all three for Bush Hill but they were still held by Inter Northam. Mike Butler of Slightly Athletic helped secure a 7-1 win against Forest Town Reserves with his threesome.
Young Capital striker Kevin Davis did a one-two with the Millbridge crossbar to open the scoring as his team edged out their fellow Senior 1 new boys 2-1.
Vandalism to the nets at Green Park meant that the Junior 5 match between Millbridge Reserves and Inmar was moved to the Sport Centre and it produced a seven-goal thriller, Millbridge taking the honours 4-3.
