YOUNGSTERS at a Southampton primary school were rewarded for their hard work during the last term with a special certificate presentation.
About 19 Year 2 children at St Patrick's School, Woolston, were the first to take part in a new awards project designed to reward good young Southampton citizens.
Participants in the voluntary extra-curricular initiative take part in three different sectors of the award before receiving certificates from the city council.
Catharine Denby, personal, social and health education co-ordinator at the school, said: "There are three elements to the award. They have to take up a new hobby and give service - do three hours at home and three hours at school. They also have to take part in what we call an adventure activity, which can be going on a school trip, but in our case it was organising a party for the infants."
