Hundreds of Power FM listeners today voted for wannabe Rob Crisp as the new replacement for Maximum Bob.
Rob, 20, had been among five finalists battling for the six-month contract with Power FM to be the new street boy as Maximum Bob is leaving to move to Plymouth in Devon.
On Monday Rob will start on his first breakfast show alongside Rachel Brookes and flying eye presenter Cat James.
Rob, a chef from the Isle of Wight, said: "I am chuffed to win this job. I had to be pelted with tomatoes by my brother and sister to get it.
"I'm really looking forward to getting out on the streets and meeting people.
"When I was young I used to listen to Dr Fox on Power FM and I have always wanted to work here. I can't believe that my dream has finally come true.
"On Monday they are planning to send me out to be an office slave for an hour. I can't wait to see what other challenges I'm going to have to do."
Power FM breakfast show presenter Rachel Brookes said: "All five finalists were brilliant but Rob picked up the majority of the votes. We are going to be sad to see Maximum Bob go, but Rob is going to be the start of a new chapter. On Monday listeners can phone in and question him and suggest a nickname for him."
