BUDDING actors will be in the spotlight this weekend when auditions take place for a film on Craig David's rise to fame.
The project - Silent Soul - is loosely based on the Southampton singer's early career and will be shot in the inner city.
Producers are looking for about 200 cast members aged 12-27 and auditions take place on Saturday and Sunday.
The 13-minute film, made by Ocean Terminal Films, will include an original soundtrack produced by Artful Dodger's Mark Hill featuring a number of up-and-coming acts in Southampton.
Director Robert Clother said: "Craig's success has opened people's eyes to the creative potential within the inner city.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for the area's young people to become involved in a professional film and we are hoping to discover and inspire a further wave of Southampton talent."
The film will be shot in August and Ocean Terminal Films, based in Southampton, will run a course on camera, editing and scriptwriting techniques leading up to production.
Saturday's auditions are at the Afro-Caribbean Centre in Trinity Road, Newtown, from 10.30am-2.30pm and at the YMCA Centre in Cranbury Terrace from 3pm-6pm.
Sunday's audition is at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Gurdwara, St Marks Rd, Newtown, 2pm to 4pm.
