BBC South Today news presenter Sally Taylor told a crowd of people about her first steps into presenting.
"I was a teacher and I left to travel around the world and when I came back I sat next to someone at a dinner party who said I should consider presenting. I refused a job at first.
"The first time I went on air I was terrified I made loads of mistakes it was so nerve racking," she said.
Radio Solent presenter Julian Clegg spoke about how important the careers day is for the people to find out about the business.
"It is a great opportunity for young people to come and talk to the people who really know this business well and find out how to get into it.
