Editor of the Daily Echo Ian Murray advised the attendees about how to get into the business and what it is really like. He said tongue firmly in cheek: "It is my pleasure for the next 45 minutes to try to put you off becoming a journalist.
Mr Murray outlined the various ways that people can get into journalism and the wide range of career opportunities that can follow for those who are ambitious.
