SOUTHAMPTON'S chart-topping boy wonder came home for his first live performance since rocketing to the number one spot. (17/4/00)
R&B sensation Craig David was the headline act at Power in the Port - a massive outdoor concert to celebrate the Tall Ships event.
Despite wind and constant drizzle, hundreds of music fans turned up at the concert on Saturday to see the local boy perform his debut single Fill Me In.
At 18 Craig made history last week when he became the youngest British solo male artist to get a number one hit.
The audience received an extra treat with the surprise arrival of Artful Dodger who performed ReRewind with Craig, which reached number two at Christmas.
Speaking to the Daily Echo Craig said: "It is the best feeling to come back to my home town and come back to my family and friends who have supported me especially having the number one."
"It feels good to fly the flag for Southampton and for the whole of Britain and bringing something fresh to the music scene."
Also on the bill for the event were Northern Line, Scooch, Madasun, Leilani, Made in London, Mero, Sister 2 Sister, Dum Dums and Kick Angel.
