EVERY family has its problems but one Israeli household seems to have more than their fair share.
After her husband dies from a bee sting, Dafna is left to bring up her four children alone.
Each of them responds in a different way to the tragedy.
Dafna becomes increasingly withdrawn from the family, forcing her eldest daughter to take on the role of the matriarch, while he youngest child suffers feelings of abandonment, the ten-year-old attempts to break the world record in the free jump by leaping into an empty swimming pool and the teenage son refuses to go to school, spending his time dressed as a mouse while distributing leaflets instead.
But all isn't doom and gloom and an unexpected incident begins to pull the family in the same direction, offering them hope and a chance to heal.
At times uplifting, optimistic and even funny, Broken Wings is an impressive debut from director Nir Bergman.
In Hebrew with English subtitles.
