AN Andover woman will be plummeting 10,000 feet in a sponsored sky dive to raise money for the Meningitis Trust.
Cheryl Hicks, aged 20, of Reynolds Way, is frightened of heights and has never been in an aeroplane before but is determined to take the plunge.
She will plummet to 5,000 feet at 120 mph and when her canopy opens she will glide down into the drop zone. "I get a feeling of sickness when I think about it as I have never given extreme sports a second thought.
"Meningitis is very frightening for people suffering or their families.
"My niece suffered from meningitis when she was just a few months old, it was terribly frightening but luckily she made a full recovery," said Cheryl.
The sky dive will be taking place in Salisbury at the beginning of August.
She is trying to raise as much money for the trust as she can, so anyone who can sponsor Cheryl and provide vital funds for a worthwhile cause should phone 07796 326433.
