US Portsmouth 232-9 lost to Andover II 307-3
Tim Keighley's 2nd XI notched the highest score at the Navy ground last Saturday as they reached 307 for 3 in 48 overs.
The home skipper was left to rue his decision to put Andover in, as Stuart Summers and Rob Palmer blasted the ball to all parts to the ground. Summer fell six runs short of his century off 76 balls, in first-wicket stand of 157 with Ali Hooper (56).
Rob Ooostendorp (12) was the only batter to miss out as first Palmer, (71* off 63 balls) and evergreen Paul Funnell (48*) put on 114 for the third wicket.
It was an awesome display from the seconds, who finished off the opposition in the field with some friendly bowling from the skipper (2-27) and Ali Hooper (3-51). Earlier John Walsh (1-10) and Chris Breeze (1-15) bowled tidily.
The side can look forward to the home tie against Calmore tomorrow. Jerry Hayward returns to the 2nd XI with Nick Dancer. Paul Funnell will skipper the side as Keighley joins the 1st XI.
