Premiership new boys Portsmouth are coming to play at the Portway, writes Steven Baxter.
Andover secured the friendly with newly-promoted Pompey this week, for a game that will reunite old pals Harry Redknapp and Andover boss Howard Goddard.
Wednesday 6 August at 7.30pm is the date for football fans to mark in their diaries, as Redknapp's Premiership stars will make it the biggest friendly in Andover football for years.
Goddard told the Advertiser: "This is massive for us; you can't get bigger than a Premiership team coming to the Portway.
"Look at the players Pompey have in their side, and you'll see that any eleven they can put out will be full of stars. But Harry's promised me he'll bring a good-strength team down."
Goddard, who knows Redknapp from their Bournemouth days, has kept in touch with the Fratton Park supremo, and said: "I'm really pleased that this has happened, as your friends in the game don't let you down.
"It'll be 10 days before the start of our respective seasons, us in the Wessex league and Pompey in the Premiership, so we're all really looking forward to it."
