CROWDS were treated to a host of action-packed entertainment when the annual HMS Sultan Show took place at the weekend.

The event once again proved to be a top draw as thousands of people flocked to the military base in Gosport.

There they were treated to a host of entertainment, including parachute displays, motorcycle stunts and even helicopter rides.

An impressive fly past was also staged by the Firebird Aerobatics Display Team, that wowed crowds with a host of mid-air spins, vertical drops and stunts.

More than 3,000 were expected to have visited the show during the two-day event.

Chief Petty Officer Bob Craig, one of the co-ordinators of the show, said this year's event was bigger and better than ever.

"This year is really the best line up we have had in terms of the amount of displays and attractions we have going on," he said.

"The show just gets bigger and better every year."

"The circus has been really popular with the kids and the beer tent is doing well with the adults.

"The parachute display was impressive and I think everyone is looking forward to the jousting and the aerobatics."

Children were also treated to some Big Top action as a circus was staged that included workshops for youngsters to join in.

Visitors were also treated to more traditional attractions with an authentic village fete being manned by volunteers.

Gosport resident Alan Davids, 36, said he was a regular at the event. "I bring my family every year but I am really impressed with everything they have got going on this year.

"The kids enjoy it and that's the main thing," he added.
