THE BASINGSTOKE Open Skating Championships start today at the Planet Ice Silver Dome Arena and go on until Wednesday.
In total, there are 32 classes ranging from beginners aged nine and under to the National Ice Skating Association British Championship accredited events at novice, primary, junior and senior levels.
There will also be exhibition classes as well as solo and groups.
A host of local skaters will be taking part, with four in particular looking to do well.
Antionette Hempel (15) is coached by Anita Curtis. Last season she competed in the primary ladies event, but this year she is taking part in junior level and aims to qualify for the British Championship.
Shannon Loane (14) and Alex Tait (17), coached by Fiona Dickson-Allen, will be looking to improve on their placing in last season's primary pairs with an eye on moving up to the junior pairs next season.
Victoria Caine (12) will be taking part in the novice ladies event as she looks to move up to primary championship in 2004.
The competitions run from 7am to 7pm on all three days. Admission is free.
