PUPILS from two local junior schools benefited from the 2003 Planet Ice summer skating scheme.
The popular annual event was conceived in 2000 as a reward for Year 5 pupils following their summer SATS exams.
Manor Field Junior and Rucstall Primary schools, both keen supporters of their local rink, enjoyed a course of lessons in skating skills with Planet Ice skating coaches Kirsten Workman, Michael Jaye, Louise Donaldson, Fiona Dickson-Allen, Jenny Wolford and Gary Peed.
A number of the pupils were successful in gaining national grades.
Winterthur Life funded the transport and supported the scheme.
