Eastleigh police chief Supt Ann Wakefield is putting more bobbies on the beat in a bid to make Eastleigh an even safer place to live over the next 12 months.

The borough already has one of the lowest crime rates in the country, but her aim is to reduce the number of criminal incidents still further plus provide residents with the reassurance that their quality of life is "paramount" to her and her officers.

The divisional commander says she is asking her officers to increase crime detection rates and bring to justice those responsible for crime - particularly in the priority areas of house burglary, vehicle crime, violent crime, criminal damage and anti social behaviour.

Key initiatives include an increase in the number of beat officers patrolling the streets to tackle anti social behaviour, violent crime and criminal damage.
