PUBLICAN Dave Kennett is hoping his plans to create a miniature railway are not derailed by planners next week.
On Tuesday the Isle of Wight Council's Development Control Committee will decide whether his application for the railway at the Sun Inn Calbourne, will be allowed.
Though Mr Kennett, 28, said the project would be a boost for tourism and have no impact on neighbours, a number of nearby residents oppose the plan.
They fear the attraction will create a noise nuisance and that storage sheds to house the rolling stock will be an eyesore.
But Mr Kennett said the miniature trains were only eight inches tall, about four times the size of the 00 range popularised by Hornby, adding: "I do not see how it will cause a problem to anyone. It is something we are keen to do to carry on the railway theme we have in the pub itself."
