THE Daily Echo today reached the end of an era in Hythe - but it is about to begin another one in Lymington.
Our New Forest district office in the Marsh at Hythe has been closed, but reporters Peter East, Chris Yandell and Kay Cooper will continue to cover the Forest.
They will work from the offices of the New Forest Post at 41 Gosport Street, Lymington, which they will share with the Post's advertising and admin staff and chief reporter Sue Edwins.
Daily Echo deputy editor Dave King described the departure from Hythe after a 45-year presence as "quite a wrench", both for the staff and those who have been in regular contact with the reporters and reception staff Kathryn Markham and Val Proctor.
He stressed: "The Daily Echo is proud of the coverage provided by its district offices and I am confident that this will continue.
Telephone numbers at Lyming-ton will be 01590 613803, 01590 631804, 01590 613839, and 01590 613800. The fax number will be 01590 613898.
