Southampton based Olympians Hugh Styles and Adam May made a good start in the Tornado fleet and are back on form in second place overall at Kiel Week, Germany.
After scoring a sixth and a seventh place on the first day of racing, they are currently in second behind John Lovell and Charlie Ogletree of America.
Team GBR sailor Paul Goodison scored an eighth and first place in the Laser class and is currently lying 14th overall at this early stage in the regatta. Teammate Mark Howard, from Hampshire, scored the reverse of Goodison's results and is tied on equal points.
Poland's Maciej Grabowski currently leads the class from Fredrik Lassenius of Sweden.
Meanwhile, his old classmate, Olympian Ben Ainslie clocked up two wins in his first day out on the water - again setting a strong tone for the rest of fleet to follow.
Four more days of racing will show how easily he maintains his lead.
In the 470 women's fleet, the early signs of a recent crew swap for team GBR sailor Josie Gibson look to be favourable as she is lying in fourth place overall.
Gibson, who is now sailing with Sue Parkin, scored a 13th, ninth and fourth and is tied on points with third placed Alina Grobe and Vivien Kussatz of Germany.
Russians Vlada Ilienko and Natalia Gaponovich have taken the early lead in the class.
