HARRY Potter fever swept through Andover on Saturday as the long-awaited fifth book was released.
Stores selling the popular novel, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, put on a selection of events and Andover Library also held a number of activities throughout the day.
At Hammicks bookshop in Andover, over 500 copies flew off the shelves as the store opened at 7.30am to queues of eager readers.
Assistant manager Anne Eggington said: "It was very successful. We sold 534 copies on Saturday alone. I've never seen anything like it. Everyone's saying how amazing it's been."
Magician Michael King kept the crowds entertained and a breakfast was provided for the early customers.
At Andover Library, quizzes, colouring competitions and a Harry Potter maze were enjoyed by visitors as well as fancy dress and the chance to visit Harry Potter-related websites. Prizes were donated by Hammicks.
