THE man whose musical genius made stars of the Beach Boys will be giving fans a unique chance to hear a classic "lost" album.
Brian Wilson, who co-founded the legendary Californian group before becoming a solo star in his own right, has announced ten UK dates for next spring, including an appearance at Bournemouth's Pavilion Theatre, where he will be perform classic hits and the mythical unreleased Beach Boys album Smile.
It will be the first time in his 40-year career that Wilson has performed the album, intended as the follow-up to their groundbreaking 1966 work Pet Sounds.
The album was abandoned after months of intense work. The increasingly troubled Wilson then abandoned his role as the guiding force of the group and went into a long withdrawal from public life.
In recent years, Brian has made a triumphant comeback, contributing to several new projects, recording a new album and making a series of concert appearances.
Earlier this year, he was presented with the Special International Award at the Ivor Novello Awards.
The Beach Boys, whose hits included Good Vibrations, California Girls and God Only Knows, celebrate their 40th anniversary this year.
You can see Brian Wilson at the Pavilion Theatre, Bournemouth on March 1, 2004.
