AN afternoon of sponsored events held at Winton School in Andover has raised £3,000 - with more money still to be collected.
Pupils organised a variety of activities and the total amount raised will be split between the school and the Adom Project.
Headteacher Andrew Smith said: "It went very well and we're now in the process of collecting the money. The kids worked hard at it and they've done really well."
The Adom Project is the dream of maths teacher Peter Donkor, who wants to build a school in his homeland of Ghana to provide free education to 90 of the poorest youngsters in the market town of Kasoa.
The school took on the task of raising £5,000 a year for the next five years and the project has already collected £6,000.
With the addition of the money from the latest fundraising efforts, it is hoped they will now be able to buy the land.
