IT'S billed as a week aimed at bringing the sailing and village communities together while encouraging visitors to the area and raising money for local good causes.
This year's Hamble Week looks set to provide a feast of fun for landlubbers and sailors from this Saturday, when Nick Girdler of Radio Solent officially opens the event, through to Sunday, July 6 when the Hamble Week grand draw and prizegiving takes place.
Following the success of last year's event, the Hamble Valley Food and Drink Festival is again running in conjunction with Hamble Week and is set to provide lots of food orientated activities plus village walks.
This Saturday locals and visitors are being invited to join the maiden voyage of a new summer river bus service on the River Hamble, together with the launch of the first phase of the new long distance walking trail, named the Strawberry Trail, linking Hamble and Botley.They will both leave Hamble Quay by foot and by boat at 10am.
There will be plenty going on in Hamble on Saturday with a farmers' produce market on Hamble Quay, the official opening of Hamble Week just before 11am plus the opportunity for youngsters to try out various sports.
