SOUTHAMPTON FC's Young Women's Academy are holding an induction day at Barton Peveril College next Monday (June 30) for potential newcomers next season.
Students who join the academy at 16 combine their usual academic studies with eight hours of football training and coaching plus matches against other colleges and academies on Wednesday afternoons.
A Saints replica kit is part of the package along with opportunities to get involved in Saints' public relations and marketing activities.
As proof of the students' progress, five of last year's intake gained first-team call-ups for the Southampton Saints senior women's team, who were playing alongside London giants Fulham and Arsenal in the FA Premier League.
Although Saints were relegated it is hoped that, with the help of the academy girls, the young team will bounce straight back from the Southern Premier Division at the first time of asking.
Any students interested in attending the induction day should contact Andrea Griffin, head of PE at Barton Peveril, on 023 8036 7200.
