Kevin Saunders lost out to Surbiton's Neil Riley in a sudden-death play-off in the South Region PGA order of merit event at Lydd.
Dibden left-hander Saunders finished up in a tie for second place with former European Tour veteran Peter Mitchell. Saunders shot rounds of 67 (four under) and 72.
Former Ryder Cup ace Steve Richardson finished well down the field with a 12-over total after following a 72 with a messy 82 when the wind sprung up in the second round. After four events, Saunders is 22nd in the order of merit, Richardson 40th.
Richardson has opted out of all European Tour events this summer to try and regain his form in the South Region.
