A charity money-spinner has proved such a success that organisers are planning to make it an annual event.

Around 76 riders from across the country took part in the Solent Coasts Sponsored Cycling Challenge, which took cyclists on a 60-mile route around the south coast on cycle ways and ferries.

Up to £12,000 could be raised by the event that will be split between Hope and Aid Direct, Growing Care and the Healing Hands Network. Organiser Bernard Sullivan, from Chandler's Ford, said: "It has been a fantastic event. Some people did it in one day but some people took the weekend to do it.

"The event has been a great success and we are hoping to make it an annual event."
